This Summer, the City of Fort Lauderdale is launching Mix It. Curb It., a new program that will make recycling much easier and more convenient. Residential recycling customers will receive blue, 65-gallon carts into which they can mix all clean recyclables. Delivery will take place over five weeks beginning in mid-June, and residents may begin using their new carts immediately. Old bins will be collected for recycling at the time of cart delivery.
The new Mix it. Curb it. program encourages recycling participation, reduces recycling collection service costs, and has the ability to increase the quantity and quality of recyclables that the City sends for processing. However, the success of the program, and the positive impact to our environment, is greatly dependent upon how, and how much, you and your neighbors recycle.
Beginning June 1, maps showing the scheduled delivery dates for each neighborhood will be available on the City’s Recycling web page. In the interim, for more information about Mix it. Curb it., please visit www.fortlauderdale.gov/recycle and read the Frequently Asked Questions. You may contact the 24-hour Customer Service Center at (954) 828-8000 or visit online at fortlauderdale.gov/customerservice. Customer Service may also be reached via LauderServ, the City’s android application for mobile devices. Finally, you can always reach out to Loretta Cronk, City of Fort Lauderdale Recycling Program Coordinator, at LorettaC@fortlauderdale.gov or (954) 828-7701.
The Mix-It Curb It Blue 65 Gallon Commingled Trash container Distribution date is now listed on the Fort Lauderdale Website for Our Coral Ridge neighborhood as Thursday July 5th. I will be leaving out curbside all 6 of my old recycling tubs for the recycling crew to remove. One new, hopefully “heavy duty”, wheeled 65 gallon can sounds a lot better than those tubs!
